MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help after a 15-year-old girl ran away from home last week and hasn’t been seen since.

Authorities received a report on March 1 of a juvenile runaway in Gnesen Township, which is near Duluth. The girl, identified as Hailey Timo, had not gone home after school and it was determined she intentionally ran away. Authorities say she has not contacted any family or known friends she left.

The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office originally believed she was most likely with an adult male that she met through social media. Further investigation showed she was picked up by a 17-year-old male and 18-year-old man in Preston, Minn. They allowed Timo to stay with her after she became friends with the woman on social media.

After learning of attention the case was getting and of her status of being a missing person, the two brought Timo back to the Twin Ports area. She was last seen at about 11 p.m. Saturday near Superior, Wis. Timo then ran away from her friends on foot, and authorities haven’t been able to find her. Authorities say her actions to remain undetected are deliberate.

Authorities said they don’t believe she is endangered or with anyone that could threaten her safety. She has dyed her hair black to avoid being spotted.

Anyone with information about her disappearance or who knows where she might be is asked to call the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office at (218) 625-3581. The Preston Police Department and Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office are providing assistance with the case.
